  2. If I had to choose a highlight, an impossible task since the album is such a gripping ride with no poorer moments whatsoever, it would have to be the nine-minute riff-filled madness of Two-Thumbed Fist, a malevolent journey that references both the pure Black Metal of Cobalt’s past and the Blackened Hardcore Punk and otherworldly Prog of the band’s present.

  5. The nearly 10 minute long "Two-Thumbed Fist" is a stand-out track for me. There's something progressive here that eschews the usual Provolone associated with progress in metal. The spirit of black metal remains, but all it's trappings fall away to reveal something that truly rocks.
  6. Dedicated to Ernest Hemingway and Hunter S. Thompson. The vocals on "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place" are sampled from a phone call that Jarboe had with Erik Wunder. Following "A Starved Horror" there are 50 tracks of silence of various durations.
